Million Dollar Bike Ride Grants for STXBP1

Calling All Researchers! RFA will open with LOIs due in September 2024

in June 2024, Lulu’s Crew / Team STXBP1 will ride for the 6th year to raise funds for STXBP1 research in the Million Dollar Bike Ride, organized by the Orphan Disease Center. Below is the information for the 2023 grants. This page will be updated with the 2024 grant focus and deadlines. Don’t miss it!

In 2023, two $75,460 grants were available to advance research that supports therapeutic development for STXBP1 disorders. Read the announcement on 2023 grantees here.

Projects addressing any stage of preclinical to clinical development were considered. Areas of priority interest include, but were not limited to:

  1. Development of clinical trial readiness, including identification of novel biomarkers and non-seizure clinical endpoints, which may arise from multi-omics interrogations.

  2. Determining the trajectory of STXBP1 disorders from pediatric to adult presentations.

  3. Understanding pathomechanisms and genotype-phenotype relationships of STXBP1 disorders. This may include the development of novel murine or iPSC-based models to determine pathomechanisms of missense variants.

  4. Developing or advancing novel therapeutic approaches to correct STXBP1 disorders, including the repurposing of FDA-approved drugs based on mechanistic identification.

Letters of Interest (LOIs) are in September 2024.
